SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - February 13, 2001. EscapeHomes today announced its yearly list of "Top 10 Cities to Buy A Vacation Home". The cities, in alphabetical order, are: Ashland, Ore., Boise, Id., Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, Kiawah Island, S.C., Killington, Vt., Martha's Vineyard, Mass., Nags Head, N.C., Santa Fe, N.M., Scottsdale, Ariz., St. Thomas, USVI. The full list, along with a description of each city, can be found at www.escapehomes.com.
The list, which was compiled by tracking user requests for information on popular vacation home locations on the EscapeHomes website, reflects the changing nature of the second-home market. While Martha's Vineyard has been popular for years, cities like Boise and Santa Fe have recently become more popular.
EscapeHomes CEO Clark Thompson attributes these changes to the influence of Baby Boomers in the market. "Vacation home buyers in the Boomer generation are adventurous and looking for unique places to pursue their passions," said Thompson. "Boomers place a high priority on proximity to activities like skiing and golfing when considering potential second-home locations."
With over 250 community profiles and over 200 real estate firms and agents listed in the network directory, EscapeHomes is the Internet's most comprehensive online resource for second home, vacation, recreational and retirement real estate. Potential homebuyers can find community profiles and local events of interest, as well as access a referral network of qualified real estate agents and their property listings.
