 | Vero Beach Florida, A Charming Seaside Community | | | |
| The charming seaside community of Vero Beach is geographically divided by the scenic Indian River with the land east of the river referred to as the beachside, and the land west of the river, the mainland.
The county was established in 1925, the area having been formerly a part of St. Lucie County. The first settlement dates back to the early 1880s.

Vero Beach was incorporated in 1919 and is the county seat of Indian River County.

The beachside offers quaint restaurants, specialty shops and boutiques, the nationally recognized Vero Beach Museum of Art and Riverside Theater, banking, professional services, doctors' offices, churches and gourmet beach markets without traveling over either of the two bridges to the mainland. The Indian River Memorial Hospital is located just over the bridge off Indian River Boulevard.
The population of Vero Beach is approximately 17,000 during off season. Aside from the finest citrus in the world, Vero Beach is the spring training camp for the famous Los Angeles Dodgers.
