The city of South Lake Tahoe is found on the south shore of the Lake, right next door to Stateline, Nevada.  Among the chief activities in South Lake Tahoe are gambling, cabaret shows, live music and dancing, shopping and fine dining.  Both the scenery and the nightlife in Tahoe are equally appealing. Outside, Lake Tahoe is a scenery lover's dream. The largest group of world-class ski resorts is located here, and within an hour's drive there's over 30 championship golf courses to choose from. South Lake Tahoe hosts a variety of terrain for activities like hiking, mountain biking, fishing, boating, water skiing and camping. South Lake Tahoe has every type of restaurant to suit your taste and budget - European-style bistros, California cuisine, classic steakhouses, Chinese, Italian - even Swiss. South Lake Tahoe is a great place to visit, with opportunities for fun and adventure for everyone in the family.

Housing
For snow enthusiasts, Tahoe means owning a home near one of 15 ski resorts including Squaw Valley, USA (the north-shore site of the 1960 Winter Olympics) and Heavenly Ski Resort with its world-class terrain on the edge of the city of South Lake Tahoe.  To summer enthusiasts, Lake Tahoe is a respite from the heat where they play in and on her clear waters, bask on her beaches or wander through the sheltering mountains.  Many different homes can be found to within the 300-400k range.   

Weather
Weather is always an important element when deciding to live in South Lake Tahoe. Whether you are out for a few hours or on an extended backpacking trip, its important to be prepared for changes in weather. A great day in the summer can quickly become a cold, drenching afternoon as massive thunderheads build over the mountains. Fast moving winter storms can drop three feet of snow in October or even May.
