About Cabo San Lucas
Known collectively as Los Cabos, the towns of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo sit at the tip of the Baja Peninsula. A favorite pirate hangout in long-ago times that developed into a pair of sleepy fishing villages, the Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo area caught resort fever in the 1970s. It is now among the premier destinations of world travelers, as it offers exquisite vacation homes, beach vacation rentals and beach resorts. Many describe the area as magical, romantic, and mysterious. For those who like to relax by taking long walks along the shore, a 29-mile stretch of golden sand separates the smaller, less touristy San Jose del Cabo from its larger neighbor, Cabo San Lucas, and miles of deserted beaches continue northward along both the Pacific coast and the shoreline of the Sea of Cortez. From the main beach at Playa Medano, where crowd and party lovers mingle, to the secluded Playa del Amor, only reachable by boat, Los Cabos offers endless opportunities.
